Stage Managers Association Australia Ltd is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee, incorporated in August 2021. It is a volunteer-run organisation, lead by our Board of Directors.
Our Objective
Our objective is to pursue the following charitable purposes to advance education and culture by:
- promoting respect and transparency by actively promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives that ensure the Australian community of stage managers is reflective of Australian society more broadly;
- providing accessible opportunities for all people interested or engaged in the practice of stage management to: engage in training and development opportunities such as events, discussions, and seminars; participate in mentorship programs; access social support and wellbeing initiatives; and innovate and improve best practice to enhance the future of the arts and cultural practice;
- conducting and publishing research into trends, needs, practice, innovation, and process used by or affecting stage managers and therefore the arts and cultural industries more broadly;
- working with other industry and societal peak bodies and government at all levels, to ensure the interests of the company and its members are represented in public decision-making processes affecting the arts and cultural industries more broadly;
- managing a trust fund and distributing income in the way of scholarships, bursaries, or equivalent support for the purpose and initiatives of Stage Managers Association Australia Ltd; and
- holding fundraising events to raise money to be added to the capital of the trust fund, and value in kind to benefit the purpose of the organisation.
