As one employment opportunity closes another goes into rehearsal. After Pippin’s trail blazing post-Covid shutdown season and a brief run of Drummer Queens, the Sydney Lyric Theatre will become the home of the Australian production of Hamilton.

Full company rehearsals for Hamilton started on Monday this week. The production is employing almost all of the backstage crew as full-time staff giving crew access to benefits such as paid sick leave and the accrual of annual leave. There are over 40 backstage crew from Stage Management, Technicians, Wardrobe and Hair & Make up not including casual crew employed for the Bump In and shop work.

With Pippin, Frozen and now Hamilton, Australia remains at the fore-front of getting large commercial musicals up and running with Broadway and West End producers watching on with envy.
